Our Staff

Kara Chin

Kara caddied at Glen Oak Country Club in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, and was awarded the Evans Scholarship to the University of Illinois, where she graduated in 2012. She taught at St. Angela’s on the west side of Chicago for three years before joining the WGA/ESF in 2015.

Joanna Hernandez

Joanna grew up on the South Side of Chicago and was part of the first WGA Caddie Academy class. She was awarded an Evans Scholarship to Marquette University, where she graduated with a degree in Education and English. She joined the WGA/ESF team in June 2020.

Sarahi Ortiz

Sarahi grew up in Los Angeles, California and caddied at Onwesntia Club in Lake Forest, IL through the WGA Caddie Academy. She was awarded the Evans Scholarship to the University of Oregon where she studied Spanish and Leadership & Administrative Skills. She is based out of the west coast and has been with WGA/ESF since 2020.

Katie Schumacher

Katie is from Mount Prospect, Ilinois, and received her Bachelor's from Marquette University and her Masters from Loyola Chicago. Her dad and two uncles are Evan Scholar Alumni. She lives with her husband Greg and their dog Cadence. She joined the WGA/ESF team in October 2022.

Mike Maher

Mike caddied at Beverly Country Club in Chicago and was awarded the Evans Scholarship to Marquette University, where he graduated in 2007. He has been on staff since December 2007. He lives in Libertyville, Illinois, with his wife Liz (also a Marquette Evans Scholar Alum) and their two daughters.

Fernando Navarro

Fernando grew up in Chicago, Illinois. He received his Bachelor's and Master’s from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He taught Engineering and Physics at Back of the Yards College Prep for 6 years, where he developed lessons, tailored assessments, and managed departmental operations. He lives in Chicago with his wife Kassandra. He joined the WGA/ESF team in June 2024.
